Charlottesville Veterinary StaffMary Bradley, LVT

Mary joined the Animal Care of Ivy Square team in 2019. She attended Blue Ridge Community College and graduated with her degree in Veterinary Technology in 2007. She spent many years working in the Northern VA and DC area and has specialized in care of exotic animals. She is excited to return to day practice with cats and dogs, though she does miss the exotics some. Her responsibilities include assisting the doctors with all aspects of patient care, monitoring, record keeping and client education. She will obtain blood and urine samples, analyze laboratory samples, take x-rays, administer sedation and anesthesia. She monitors patients, gives medications and treatments as directed by the doctors, and ensures that you understand the doctors’ instructions.

When not working Mary enjoys spending her time off with her young daughter, her cat, and her crested gecko.

Charlottesville Veterinary StaffChelsea Payne, Veterinary Assistant

Chelsea joined the Animal Hospital of Ivy Square team in 2017 as a veterinary assistant. She is currently working towards her Licensed Veterinary Technician degree through Ashworth College. Her responsibilities include assisting the doctors with patient check in, obtaining medical histories, surgical preparation and sterilization, performing laboratory procedures, taking x-rays, phlebotomy, and client education. Chelsea will ensure that your visit goes smoothly and that you understand the doctors’ recommendations.

Outside of work Chelsea enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She has 2 dogs, Bruno the Aussie mix and Bugsy the Chihuahua, and 2 cats. She also enjoys photography and travel.

Charlottesville Veterinary StaffMyiana White, Veterinary Assistant

Myiana joined the team in 2020 as a veterinary assistant. She comes to us with experience in both the veterinary field as well as experience with animal training . Myiana received her veterinary assistant certification in 2019 from Allied Health via CATEC locally in Charlottesville. Myiana enjoys assisting both clients and patients alike. She will be working in the reception area to ensure that clients have a pleasant experience as well as working in the treatment area assisting the doctor and technicians while your furry family members are being cared for. Her responsibilities include check in, check out, scheduling, taking messages, answering questions, assisting the doctors by obtaining medical histories, surgical sterilization, performing laboratory procedures, assisting with x-rays, and client education.

Outside of work, Myiana enjoys spending time with her fur babies Egypt, Thor, and Xena. She also enjoys large animals, visiting farms and traveling.

Charlottesville Veterinary StaffAlexa Lebeis, Veterinary Assistant

Alexa joined the team in 2022 as a veterinary assistant. She is immensely grateful to be part of a practice that prioritizes patient wellbeing and Fear Free methods. She found her way into the field nearly 2 years ago when her part-time job as a kennel attendant inspired a passion for helping animals and a career change. Some of her favorite parts of the position include connecting with fellow animal lovers, comforting patients during procedures, and the abundance of learning opportunities that come with working in an environment where each day is different. Her responsibilities include check in, check out, scheduling, taking messages, answering questions, assisting the doctors by obtaining medical histories, surgical sterilization, performing laboratory procedures, assisting with x-rays, assisting technicians, and client education.

When she’s not at work, Alexa enjoys spending time outdoors; true crime podcasts; and hanging out with her 3 cats (Yogi, Smokey and Marceline), 2 ferrets (Bueller and Sloane), and Beagle mix (Tonks).

Charlottesville Veterinary StaffJanna Apgar, Veterinary Receptionist

Janna joined the animal hospital team in 2022 as a veterinary receptionist. She has a BA in business communications from Arizona State University and an AS degree in business administration from Piedmont Virginia Community College. Janna spent several years in retail customer service before coming to Ivy Square, bringing a knowledge and understanding of the importance in building strong relationships and a commitment to providing every client with exceptional care. Her responsibilities include scheduling, check in, check out, and client communication, such as processing messages, questions, and food and medication requests.

In her free time, Janna enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and her cat, Dexter. She also enjoys art projects, being outdoors, and loves plants.
